Startups & Founders

Startup software engineering is the building of a first product under uncertainty, where the goal is to reach validated learning quickly without accumulating technical debt that blocks the next stage.

Ship something real, learn from it, and do not build a prototype you cannot grow.

Context

What makes this sector different.

The two ways startups fail technically are opposite and equally fatal. Over-engineering burns runway building for a scale that never arrives. Under-engineering produces something that works for the demo and collapses at the first hundred real users, right when momentum finally exists.

We build for the stage you are at: enough architecture to survive the next order of magnitude, not the one after that, with the decisions that are expensive to reverse taken carefully and everything else kept deliberately simple.

Problems we are asked to solve

  • A runway that does not allow a second attempt
  • Needing something investors can see quickly
  • No in-house engineering team yet
  • A prototype that will not survive real usage
  • Technical decisions taken now that constrain the raise later
Standards

Frameworks we design against.

Systems for this sector are built to satisfy the obligations below. Naming a framework here describes what we design and document against — it is not a claim to hold a certification on your behalf.

  • GDPR
  • India DPDP Act 2023
  • App store requirements
  • WCAG 2.2 AA
Where we deliver

Wherever you operate.

We deliver Startups & Founders engagements for clients in India, United States, United Kingdom, Singapore, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Thailand, and worldwide — under NDA by default, with a defined daily overlap against your working hours.

Questions

Startups & Founders — common questions.

How long does an MVP take?

A focused first version typically takes eight to sixteen weeks from discovery to launch. The main variable is scope discipline: MVPs overrun because the feature list grows, not because engineering is slow. Deciding what to leave out is the highest-leverage part of the process.

Can you act as our technical team before we hire one?

Yes. Many early clients work with us as their engineering function through the first product, then transition to an in-house team. We build and document with that handover assumed from the start rather than treated as an exit event.

Will the MVP scale, or will we rebuild it?

It should carry you through the next order of magnitude without a rewrite. We take the expensive-to-reverse decisions — data model, authentication, integration boundaries — carefully, and keep everything else simple enough to change cheaply when you learn something.

Do you take equity instead of fees?

Engagements are fee-based. We are an engineering partner rather than an investor, and equity arrangements tend to misalign incentives on scope and timeline in ways that serve neither side well.
