Government & Public Sector
Government software engineering is the delivery of digital systems for public bodies under procurement, security, accessibility and record-keeping obligations that do not apply to commercial work.
Built to survive procurement review, security assessment and an audit three years later.
What makes this sector different.
Public sector delivery fails on process far more often than on technology. The build is rarely the hard part; the hard parts are demonstrating security posture to an assessor, meeting accessibility obligations as a legal requirement rather than a preference, keeping records that survive an audit, and not creating a system only one supplier can ever maintain.
We work to those constraints from the start. Security assurance is a documented stage of delivery rather than a certificate obtained afterwards, accessibility is designed in to WCAG 2.2 AA, and every engagement ends with documentation, runbooks and knowledge transfer so the department is never captive to us.
Problems we are asked to solve
- Procurement that requires evidence of security posture before award
- Accessibility as a statutory obligation, not a nice-to-have
- Data residency and sovereignty requirements
- Legacy systems that cannot be taken offline
- Supplier lock-in that makes future competition impossible

Frameworks we design against.
Systems for this sector are built to satisfy the obligations below. Naming a framework here describes what we design and document against — it is not a claim to hold a certification on your behalf.
- ISO 27001
- SOC 2
- GDPR
- India DPDP Act 2023
- WCAG 2.2 AA
- GIGW
- Data residency
Wherever you operate.
We deliver Government & Public Sector engagements for clients in India, United States, United Kingdom, Singapore, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Thailand, and worldwide — under NDA by default, with a defined daily overlap against your working hours.
Government & Public Sector — common questions.
Do you work with government departments?
Yes. Atomos supports public sector engagements with NDA-backed delivery, documented security assurance, threat modelling and compliance-ready process. We do not publicly name government clients or contracts unless we have written permission to do so.
What security evidence can you provide for a tender?
Penetration test reports with retest verification, threat models, secure development lifecycle documentation, dependency and licence audits, and architecture security reviews. Where a framework such as ISO 27001 or SOC 2 is required, we support the preparation and evidence-gathering.
Can systems be hosted entirely within our jurisdiction?
Yes. We design for data residency where it is required, including deployment to sovereign cloud regions, government cloud platforms or on-premise infrastructure. AI systems can run on open-weight models hosted in your environment so no data leaves it.
How do you avoid supplier lock-in?
Every engagement ends with source code, documentation, runbooks and infrastructure-as-code transferred to you, built on widely-supported open technologies rather than proprietary tooling. The test is simple: another competent supplier should be able to take over without us.
Is the software accessible?
We build to WCAG 2.2 AA as standard, with automated accessibility checks in the delivery pipeline and manual keyboard and screen reader testing on key flows. Accessibility is designed in from the interface stage rather than remediated before launch.
