Mobile App Development
Mobile app development is the building of applications that run natively on phones, tablets and wearables, either written once with a cross-platform framework or built separately against each platform’s own SDK.
Apps that survive the store review, the low-end device and the two-star review that follows a bad release.
Why teams bring us this work.
The hard parts of mobile are rarely the screens. They are offline behaviour, background sync, push reliability, release management across two stores, and performance on the four-year-old mid-range Android that a large share of your users actually carry. We design for those first, because they are what determines retention.
We build cross-platform where a shared codebase genuinely serves the product, and natively where platform capability, performance or deep OS integration justifies the cost of two codebases. That is an architectural decision with real trade-offs, and we make it with you during discovery rather than defaulting to whichever we prefer.
You likely need this if
- A mobile experience that is a wrapped website in all the worst ways
- Crash rates or store ratings that are costing you installs
- An app that breaks whenever connectivity does
- Release cycles slow enough that fixes take weeks to reach users
What we deliver.
- Cross-platform (Flutter, React Native)
- Native Android (Kotlin)
- Native iOS (Swift)
- App modernisation
- Wearables & companion apps
- Offline-first architecture
- App Store Optimisation (ASO)
- Release & CI/CD pipelines
Our Mobile process.
Platform strategy
Cross-platform or native, decided against your feature set, performance needs and team — with the trade-offs written down.
Product design
Flows and interface designed to platform conventions, prototyped and tested on real devices before build.
Build
Offline-first data, background sync, push, deep links and analytics designed in from the start rather than bolted on.
Release engineering
Automated builds, staged rollout, crash reporting and over-the-air updates where the platform allows.
Store optimisation
Listing, keywords, screenshots and review strategy — the difference between an app being found and being invisible.

Mobile — common questions.
What is mobile app development?
Mobile app development is the building of applications that run natively on phones, tablets and wearables. Apps are either written once with a cross-platform framework such as Flutter or React Native, or built separately against each platform’s own SDK in Kotlin and Swift.
Flutter or React Native — which should we choose?
Flutter renders its own UI, giving tighter visual consistency and strong performance for animation-heavy interfaces. React Native maps to native components and suits teams with existing React expertise and heavy web code sharing. Both are production-grade; team skills usually decide it.
When is native worth building two codebases?
When the app depends on platform-specific capability — advanced camera control, background processing, widgets, watch or automotive integration — or when performance requirements are tight enough that a bridge layer costs you. Otherwise cross-platform usually wins on total cost of ownership.
What is App Store Optimisation?
ASO is the practice of improving an app’s visibility and conversion within the App Store and Google Play. It covers title and keyword fields, screenshots and preview video, ratings and review strategy, and iteration based on store analytics — the mobile equivalent of SEO.
How long does it take to build an app?
A focused first version typically takes twelve to twenty weeks from discovery to store approval, depending on backend complexity and how many integrations are involved. Store review itself adds days, and should be planned into the release schedule rather than discovered at the end.
Do you maintain apps after launch?
Yes. Mobile requires ongoing maintenance whether or not you add features: operating system releases, SDK deprecations and store policy changes all force updates. Support engagements cover patching, compatibility and monitoring alongside feature work.
